I can't get into hockey.
I feel like i'm the only person in Chicago that isn't wild about the Blackhawks. I have tried to get excited about them. I have watched all of their play-off games or should I write most of their play-off games? I lose interest and usually wind up changing the channel. I never played hockey and it wasn't shown on television until recently. The previous owner didn't want Blackhawks games to be shown on television. If you aren't from Chicago, google Blackhawks, Bill Wirtz and television to find out what i'm writing about. Since I couldn't watch the games on television, I decided to not follow the Blackhawks. Now all of a sudden i'm supposed to fall in love with them. It doesn't work like that for me. I don't know this team and quite frankly I don't care about this team.

The greatest pound for pound fighter is?
I didn't pay to see the Mayweather fight. I will watch it when it comes on HBO next week. I will buy his next fight on pay per view if he fights Manny Pacquiao. I miss the glory days of boxing when great fighters fought one another. When Sugar Ray Leonard was boxing he fought Tommy Hearns, Roberto Duran, Wilfred Benitez and Marvin Hagler. You knew he was the greatest welterweight of his generation. He proved it against the best opponents available at his weight class. Is Floyd Mayweather the best pound for pound fighter of this generation? We will never know until Mayweather goes old school and fights the best available opponent (Pacquiao).

The sport of kings is a royal headache for gamblers.
The Kentucky Derby will run tomorrow and I will probably bet on it. Nothing big, just an action bet. If someone were to ask me "Which sport is the toughest to beat?" I would reply horse racing. The take is huge. Where I live, the tracks takeout 17 percent on Win, Place and Show bets. Over 20 percent on exacta bets and 25 percent on trifecta bets. Those numbers are extremely hard to beat. I have never known, seen or heard about anyone who can make a long term profit betting on horse racing. I will probably go to a Off Track Betting Parlor tomorrow. I haven't been there in awhile. It's a fun experience. The fun part is the excitement of the crowd cheering for their horse to win. You see losing tickets all over. I have seen them stuffed in drinking glasses and I have seen a ticket laying in a urinal. Then there's the guy who picks them up off the floor and scans them in the automated teller machine. He's hoping to find a winning ticket that someone threw away. That guy might be me after race 7 or so. (I'm only kidding)

Bad luck?
A lot of people complain about bad luck when they lose at gambling. I don't believe in bad luck there is always other reasons why people lose when they're gambling. I will point out a few reasons that people lose money gambling.
1. Not learning from your mistakes. Everybody makes mistakes it's a fact of life. Smart people learn from their mistakes, while others don't. They keep making the same mistake over and over again.
2. Low self esteem. This is a bankroll killer. I know people that self sabotage when things go good. They don't feel like they deserve to win, so they find a way to lose. I know a few people that would rather lose than win because they feel more comfortable losing. It's like they are punishing themselves for some unexplained reason.
3. Lack of focus. You can become a jack of all trades and a master of none. When I play poker, I play Limit Hold'em, No limit Hold'em and Pot Limit Hold'em. The result is i'm a mediocre player in all three games. I should pick one type of game and learn everything I can about that game. I also lose focus while sitting down and playing. I have other things on my mind and I don't notice when a player changes gears.

Carlos Zambrano Meltdown Watch
The Cubs moved pitcher Carlos Zambrano to the bullpen. This move is destined to end poorly. Carlos has an ERA of 6.44 on his first 15 pitches thrown. He is a notorious slow starter who gets stronger as the game goes on. How can you make this guy a relief pitcher? Lou Pinella must be going senile. It is just a matter of time before this move leads to a Carlos Zambrano meltdown. Hide the water cooler and get his teammates protective face gear the watch is on. I predict he will have a meltdown by Labor Day. I'm installing a countdown from Labor Day to today. I say there will be a meltdown before the countdown reaches zero.

Should I pay to see the Mayweather-Mosely fight?
I'm thinking about ordering the Mayweather-Mosely fight on Pay Per View. Floyd Mayweather is a great fighter, but his fighting style is boring to watch. He floats like a butterfly and stings like a mosquito. I want to see two guys standing toe to toe and slugging it out. I want to watch someone get knocked out. Floyd Mayweather will never slug it out with anyone. Shane Mosely is a great fighter, but his best years are behind him. Shane Mosely doesn't have the hand speed to beat Mayweather. Will this be an entertaining fight with good exchanges between the two fighters? Will it be a boring fight with Mosely stalking Mayweather around the ring unable to land any significant punches? I'm predicting the latter.
